Culinary Arts students teach second-graders about cooking

Deer Lakes high school students Gabe Hazlett, Brendan McCorkle and TJ Peterson volunteered their time to visit Curtisville Primary second-grade students who are learning about different types of careers they may pursue when they grow up.
Gabe, Brendan and TJ are already exploring the possibility of working in the Culinary field as chefs by attending A.W. Beattie’s Career Center’s Culinary Arts program.
They first spoke with younger students about the importance of safety when preparing food and to only prepare food with the help of an adult. They then spoke about their experiences in learning how to cook, how to host guests and what they would like to do as chefs and entrepreneurs, all while demonstrating how to cut different types of fruit for students to taste. Thank you, Gabe, Brendan and TJ!
